Ripples to Rapids Tutors strategically identify students’ strengths and weaknesses using our own ACTS method.

ACTS is an information collection method that:

• Assesses academic skills in reading, writing, spelling and math to establish a baseline
• Collects information on students’ strengths and weaknesses 
• Targets specific academic and social skills
• Sets measurable goals to work toward

Each student completes a diagnostic math or reading assessment, which will determine what specific areas tutoring services will benefit the student.

Ripples to Rapids Tutors begin creating a personalized tutoring program for your child using this information.  Our academic tutors will use strategic, research-based curriculums and strategies that will strenghthen and enhance your child's academic skills.  We also provided unlimited access to our web-based instructional program that can be accessed at your own home.

What About Students with Special Needs?

Schools are under tremendous pressure to produce proficient scores on state assessments, which has meant moving students with special needs in general education collaborative classrooms. The priority in these classrooms has been to teach the general education curriculum, while ensuring a student with special needs receives his/her accommodations/modifications, as outlined on their IEP.

The sad reality exists that the true individual needs and goals of many students receiving special education services are not met, because the priority is to teach math and reading.

Because Ripples to Rapids was founded by a licensed and practicing special education teacher, frustrated with this growing reality, you can count assured your child’s identified needs will be the priority. We understand academic skills in all areas are obviously essential, but Ripples to Rapids specializes in providing services to the areas not fully addressed by our nation’s public and private schools.
